Yahoo Japan Flea Market (formerly PayPayFleaMarket) has added an easy AI listing function on its iOS app to automatically create product description based on images.

According to a news release, the function will soon be released for Android app. The new GenAI feature is actually an upgrade to AI-assisted listing creation option introduced by then PayPayFleaMarket back in 2023.

Previously, product basic information was needed for AI to create product descriptions. The latest function, powered by Google’s generative AI Gemini model, is capable of creating product title, description and item conditions only by reading an image taken by the seller.

Price is also suggested along with the editable information, “making it easier and convenient than ever to register listing information and shorten[ing] the time it takes to list an item,” the parent company LY Corp. (formerly Z Holdings) stated in the release.

Competitor Mercari Japan launched the similar AI listing support in September last year.

In recent past, Yahoo Japan Flea Market, a part of LY Corp.’s re-use segment, added unused fashion category and planned an instant sales proceed transfer facility this spring. The re-use unit also comprises Yahoo Auctions and ZozoUsed.
