UK classified advertising site fish4jobs is planning a complete site redesign and relaunch for September 29, according to recruitment information Web site Ri5.
The site’s new look and functionality are intended to appeal to the company’s unique blue-collar, regionally-focused demographic. “In many ways it’s a CV-less society, while lots of people don’t really know what they want to do,” CEO Joe Slavin told Ri5.
With a difficult economic climate in prospect for the foreseeable future, fish4jobs is looking at a variety of initiatives to stimulate demand.
Another more radical development currently under consideration is the concept of payment by results – in other words, if an ad gets no response, the client doesn’t pay – which could be rolled out as a trial as early as mid-August.
“It’s something fish4 already does in the homes and cars categories,” said Slavin, “although it’s a much harder concept to define in the jobs market because of all the variables, including the quality of the ad copy. But we’ll try it in a number of different segments – targeting direct employers first – and see how it plays.”
