Russia-based mobile phone operator Beeline has announced the launch of a pilot project to sell refurbished smartphones through Avito, the largest classifieds site in the country. The average price of a refurbished smartphone on Avito is 30% lower than a new device from Beeline’s online store and retail stores, the company noted.

Avito was chosen due to its wide reach, Beeline said, pointing to Avito’s 72 million monthly users. This is where the primary demand for used phones is concentrated, making the platform a logical choice for the pilot project, according to Kirill Bulghinov, Beeline’s director of e-commerce.

“We see a strong interest in refurbished devices and want to make modern smartphones even more accessible. Launching our storefront on Avito allows us to quickly reach a wider audience and test a format that benefits both customers and businesses,” he added.

During the pilot, 20-30 models will be available for sale at a time. If successful, Beeline plans to widen the selection and add other types of devices.
