South Korea-based auto marketplace Encar.com has introduced ‘Encar Diagnostic++’, a more advanced used-car inspection and certification program aimed at boosting seller credibility and buyer trust.
According to a statement reported by local media, the new service builds on Encar’s existing diagnostic offering, which assesses whether vehicles are accident-free and verifies optional features and grade classification. Leveraging 25 years of expertise in used-car diagnostics and proprietary IT technology, Encar Diagnostic++ introduces a three-stage verification process.
In the first stage, the vehicle must meet the original Encar Diagnostic criteria — including confirmation of no prior accidents, absence of engine or transmission fault codes or warning lights, and overall good condition.
The second stage involves an in-depth inspection at anyone of Encar-operated inspection centers, where trained professionals evaluate safety-critical components, check for fluid leaks, and identify issues that are often overlooked in standard performance checks.
The third and final stage consists of a comprehensive 100-point inspection, covering the exterior, interior, tire wear, lighting systems, and installed options. Only after passing all three stages is a vehicle awarded the Encar Diagnostic++ certification.
“Based on 25 years of diagnostic know-how, we’ve developed a service that goes beyond simply verifying accident history to guarantee the actual performance and condition of a vehicle,” said an Encar spokesperson.
The company added that it aims to strengthen trust in the used-car market by offering end-to-end services — from pre-purchase inspection to post-purchase warranties.
Encar.com accounts for 40% of used car listings in South Korea and is the second most visited auto marketplace in the country, with an average of 6.7 million monthly visits over the three months to June, according to Similarweb. The leading marketplace is Bobaedream.co.kr, with 18.9 million monthly visits over the same period.
