Africar Group and Auto24.Africa have officially launched a pan-Africa auto marketplace, EV24.Africa to sell both new and certified pre-owned electric vehicles, according to the group’s top official.

Auto24.Africa co-founder and CEO Axel Peyriere told us the marketplace kick started with a variety of new EVs, but it will soon be adding used ones to be inspected and certified by its local partners.

EV24.Africa is a transactional marketplace, managing the vetted suppliers and simplifying the buying process from discovery to delivery, according to Peyriere.

“Users can compare models, request quotes, apply for financing, get country-specific import guidance, and manage the purchase process entirely online. We’re also integrating tools for after-sales support, including service and maintenance scheduling, and access to EV charging infrastructure information in select countries,” he said, replying to an email.

Of the business model, he added the marketplace buys cars, adds value and resells to the customer either to the port or at the door through a partner if Auto24 is not directly in the country.

Auto24.Africa launched its operation from Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) a couple of years back and then expanded to Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal and South Africa. The company is a subsidiary of Stellantis-backed Africar Group, which is majority owned by Australia-based marketplaces operator Emerging Classifieds Ventures and has established more than 50 auto classified sites in more than 45 countries across sub-Saharan Africa.

Last year, Auto24.Africa acquired Tanzania-based classifieds site Kupatana.com.

EV24.Africa enables buyers in all 54 African countries to buy more than 200 models from more than 25 global brands, according to a company’s news release.

“The launch of EV24.Africa builds on the experience and success of Auto24.Africa, which has already sold electric vehicles in over 15 African countries, including Morocco, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Rwanda, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Benin, Togo and several others,” the company stated in the release to the AIM Group.

“By offering country-specific insights, EV24.Africa ensures that customers can navigate local policies efficiently, removing uncertainty and making EV ownership easier. EV24.Africa is committed to eliminating barriers to EV ownership by providing the largest selection of EVs in Africa, catering to different needs and budgets; transparent pricing and clear delivery processes, ensuring customers know; expert assistance in importation and regulatory compliance, tailored to each country’s policies and dedicated customer support to guide buyers through the entire journey.”
