China-based automotive marketplace Dongchedi, which is owned by IT giant ByteDance, has launched a public charging service for new energy vehicles (NEVs) at the 2025 World Intelligent Industry Expo in the city of Chongqing, China’s unofficial ‘capital of NEVs.’
Chongqing is reportedly leading the country in NEV production and has seen rapid growth in ownership. The city has about 800,000 NEVs on the road, putting it well above the national average. Its charging infrastructure has also expanded significantly, with more than 400,000 charging stations installed.
Dongchedi said it would collaborate with Chongqing’s charging and swapping app, Yuyi Chong, to “alleviate the ‘charging anxiety’ of new energy vehicle users and make charging a hassle-free and efficient experience.”
The new product — the Dongchedi (Chongqing) Charging Public Service Platform — is working with charging pile operators to cover more than 1,000 charging stations, 9,000 charging piles and nearly 14,000 charging plugs in the city. Once registered as NEV owners on the Dongchedi app, users can select a charging station based on distance, price, charging efficiency and whether parking is free.
Dongchedi’s charging service currently spans 324 cities and 1,900 counties and districts across 31 provinces nationwide, with more than 30,000 charging stations, 230,000 charging piles and nearly 350,000 charging guns covering all major charging brands. Users in these regions can take advantage of Dongchedi’s aggregated charging service to power their vehicles with a single scan —eliminating the need to use multiple apps.
