Auto Mart, a South Africa-based auto marketplace and a subsidiary of Junk Mail Marketplaces has relaunched with additional AI-powered functions.
The new site went live on Sept. 13 with conversational AI integrated into the search functionality. This integration allows users to search for cars, motorcycles, and spares using local, natural and colloquial language, instead of relying solely on filters and keywords, according to a news release from the company that was shared with the AIM Group.
Felix Erken, CEO of Junk Mail Marketplaces, said: “Users want simplicity, speed and relevance, and they want it in plain language. Auto Mart’s new AI functionality was designed to deliver exactly that.” Junk Mail Marketplaces is preparing to relaunch its other verticals, including recruitment marketplace JobMail.co.za, with similar AI-powered functionalities.
Auto Mart added that the new site is now capable of providing relevant results for descriptive searches like “I’m looking for a fuel-efficient hatchback with Bluetooth.” Moreover, the conversational AI is also optimized for local terminology like ‘bakkie’ (a pickup truck).
The upgrade will particularly benefit informal traders and mechanics looking for spare parts without knowing their technical names, the company said.
“Every system behind the scenes has been redeveloped to make this platform scalable, future-ready and more intuitive for everyday users,” Erken added.
Last October, parent Junk Mail launched a feature to allow advertisers to link their Junk Mail accounts to Facebook Marketplace for integrated listings.
