Fiverr is going into partnership with hospitality brand Selina to help travelling workers connect with others during business trips.

The freelance marketplace sees the tie-in as a way to combat the loneliness of mobile work.

“While being an Anywhere Worker has numerous benefits including having autonomy and flexibility over one’s worklife, it still has its challenges such as lack of community and a sense of belonging,” said Gali Arnon, chief marketing officer at Fiverr.

“Building, growing and establishing a vibrant and engaging community is at the heart of everything we do at Fiverr. We are thrilled to be partnering with a company like Selina who has the physical space around the globe to help us address this issue head on.”

The partnership is intended to let remote workers — which Fiverr defines as people who work remotely while traveling from at least two locations, domestic or international, throughout the year — find community and connect with like-minded individuals during their travels, through in-person events and meetups.

The marketplace is also launching a Work from Anywhere contest, where ten Fiverr freelancers will be selected to stay at a Selina location of their choice for three to four weeks.

Selina describes itself as a “lifestyle and experiential platform” that caters to millennial and Gen Z travelers, offering accommodation alongside coworking, recreation, wellness, and local experiences. Founded in 2014, the company’s portfolio includes over 163 open or secured properties across 25 countries in six continents.

Fiverr was established in 2010 by CEO Micha Kaufman and Shai Wininger. With headquarters in Tel Aviv, the company went on to open additional offices Berlin, London, Miami, New York City, Phoenix and San Francisco.

Globally, the platform competes with freelancer sites such as Freelancer, UpWork and Dribbble.
