Japan-based used car trader Idom Inc., which operates both physical and digital services, has expanded into cross-border auto ecommerce through a collaboration with online export specialist BeForward.jp.

Under an agreement signed late last month, Idom is sharing vehicle information with BeForward.jp to meet the mobility needs of consumers around the world, according to a news release from the former.

Tokyo-listed Idom has an online presence through its Gulliver brand (221616.com) and c-to-c car-sharing app Go2Go.jp, as well as a number of car-subscription services. The company handles more than 10,000 used cars a year.

Founded in 2004, BeForward says it operates in 207 countries.

“This collaboration will enable us to deliver high-quality Japanese used cars to people not only in Japan but all over the world by publishing inventory information on our vehicles on BeForward’s cross-border e-commerce site,” Idom said.

Another Japan-based company, Zigexn Inc., which operates recruitment and real estate marketplaces, is also engaged in used-car exports through TC-V.com (formerly TradeCarView.com), which it acquired from LY Corp. (formerly Yahoo Japan) in 2018.
