The Autoteka online car history database of the largest Russia-based classified Avito has introduced a free mileage checking tool. It allows car buyers to quickly find out if the odometer of an advertised car was ‘clocked’ or not. Autoteka scours closed databases of more than 4,000 dealerships and service stations to verify mileage of the listed cars. Any registered Autoteka user can check up to three cars for free by entering their VIN code.

“We understand that for many buyers, mileage is one of the most important parameters when choosing a car, as it has the most significant impact on the condition of all elements of the vehicle,” said Andrey Tumkin, managing director of Autoteka. “However, it is not always possible to find reliable information on your own, or the search requires a lot of time and effort, and the result may be inaccurate. Comprehensive verification via multiple official channels, which is automatically carried out by Autoteka, reduces the likelihood of errors and increases the accuracy of the data received,” Tumkin said.

The new feature is part of a major update of the design and functionality of used car reports, aimed at making the selection of used cars easier even for inexperienced car buyers, Avito Auto said.

The reports now feature a single interactive damage diagram based on information from the traffic police database, insurance companies, and service centers. To analyze this data, Avito Auto uses an in-house large language model (LLM) A-Vibe. The generated interactive damage diagram clearly shows the user the entire history of vehicle damage.

The diagram complements the data that is already available in the Autoteka reports. Users can check the number of owners, service history, mileage, insurance payments, legal purity and other important facts from the history of the car, collated from over 2,000 sources, including closed ones.

“We strive to make the process of buying a car as transparent, safe and comfortable as possible for each user, we are constantly introducing innovative technologies to improve the user experience, reduce the time that car enthusiasts spend choosing and buying a car,” said Dmitry Krylov, head of the Autoteka product. He expects the new report interface to become an indispensable assistant both to those who do not have special knowledge and to professionals in the used car business.
