Oliver Weyergraf has been appointed CEO of Berlin-based rental platform Erento.com, following the resignation of Uwe Kampschulte, co-founder and CEO, on July 1 “to spend more time with the family and accept new challenges.” The rental portal Erento was launched six years ago and now has over one million items listed on portals in 26 countries.

Weyergraf, an ex-member of the management team at EBay.de, will drive Erento’s international expansion, particularly in the U.K. and U.S. markets. Chris Möller, another co-founder and former CEO, is the second member of the management team. He will continue to lead operations from Berlin as head of product development and technology.

Kampschulte remains a shareholder.

Weyergraf joined Erento from online market research firm Panelbiz, where he was CEO from April 2007. Prior to that he worked EBay, held several senior positions at publishing group Georg von Holtzbrinck, and was a principal consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Alexander Samwer of the European Founders Fund, one of Erento’s key investors, said he was “delighted” with Weyergraf’s appointment.

“Erento has enormous potential,” said Weyergraf. “The challenge will be to build our international businesses and put the strategy and structures in place to ensure our continued growth,” he added.

The company maintains it is “the leading online rental company in the world”. Renters pay a listing fee and a transaction fee, while rentees pay nothing to use the portal.
