Amazon.com has begun offering car subscriptions from mobility company Drivalia, a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole Auto Bank, on its marketplace in Spain. However, the internet retail giant’s direct involvement appears to be fairly limited — it is acting more as a gateway.
According to Amazon, “CarCloud [Drivalia’s car subscription service] is an annual subscription that gives you access to rent a vehicle with advantages and discounts compared to traditional monthly rentals. You can keep your vehicle all year, exchange it for another of the same category or even change category (adjusting the monthly fee) and return it whenever you want without penalty.”
“With the purchase of the Amazon CarCloud Adventure Voucher worth €199 (launch promotion price €99 — $99 U.S.), you can access a subscription rental of an Adventure group (Jeep Compass, Ford Kuga or similar) available at Carcloud.drivalia.es … at a price of €519 per month, including VAT.”
Other categories of car are available; city cars like the Fiat 500 are priced are €349 per month, for example.
Amazon adds: “The code to activate your subscription on the Drivalia website and the redemption instructions will be sent by email within 48 to 72 hours after making the purchase on Amazon. The order number corresponds to the code that will be used when registering for the CarCloud subscription service on the Drivalia.es website, and the collection will be at authorized Drivalia Mobility Stores.”
“The subscription and the related car rental service will have a minimum duration of 30 days and a maximum of 12 months (after the first month it is possible to cancel the service without penalty).”
At present, nine vehicles from a variety of Stellantis brands — such as Jeep, Citroën and Fiat — are listed on Amazon.es as part of this collaboration.
Raquel Hernán Sanz, who was appointed CEO of Drivalia in Spain earlier this year, told AutoReport: “The objective we have set for ourselves at Drivalia is to bring to the greatest number of users alternatives that, in an easy, flexible and simple way, make them opt for more sustainable mobility. The commitment to Amazon will allow us to reach those very different and heterogeneous audiences that seek to personalise their products to make them unique, as is the case with Drivalia CarCloud.”
