Russia-based classified giant Avito has appointed Ekaterina Nemchenko as chief people officer (CPO) effective October 1, the company has said in its Telegram channel. She will join Avito’s management board and will be responsible for implementing a previously adopted HR strategy, which aims to further enhance HR automation, scale talent development programs, and support and develop the company’s culture.

Nemchenko joined Avito in 2023, and was instrumental in building the company’s financial planning and analysis team from the ground up. In addition to her main work, she teaches her own course, finances for foodtech, at ITMO National Research University and mentors students in the master’s program at Avito and the HSE Graduate School of Business. Previously, she had worked at Coca-Cola HBC and Danone as well as ran her own business. She is also an ICF certified coach and has been an in-house trainer and facilitator for over 10 years. She graduated with honors from the Russian University of Trade and Economics.

“Ekaterina is passionate about a humane approach to processes,” said managing partner Sergey Piven, “and I believe we will open the next chapter in our talent management.”

According to Avito, it currently employs over 12,000 people.
